As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, Dave Moody needed Scouting. He didn’t realize it at the time, but Scouting was providing him an escape from the abuse he experienced. Going on camping trips and spending time with his Troop gave his mind something to think about other than what had happened to him. And he loved Scouting as a result of it.
Now an adult, and an Atlanta Area Council Board Member, Dave Moody is a strong advocate for Child Abuse Prevention in and outside of Scouting. He is a supporter and registered trainer for the Stewards of Children Darkness to Light Training and is a voice against abuse throughout Atlanta.
April is Child Abuse Awareness Month. During this month, and throughout the year, we stand alongside survivors and advocates like Dave Moody in hopes of eliminating Child Abuse in our city. If you are concerned about the welfare of a child, we urge you to contact 1-800-CHILDREN.
Dave Moody is the CEO of CD Moody Construction Inc. and a member of the Atlanta Area Council’s Executive Committee. He also serves as the Chairman of Celebration Events for the Atlanta Area Council’s 100th Anniversary.
