Dave Moody says, “Scouting is what helped me heal”

The Atlanta Area Council, Boy Scouts of America was proud to host the 6th Annual Youth Protection Seminar in October featuring keynote speaker Dave Moody, President and Chief Executive Officer of C.D. Moody Construction. As a child, Moody was sexually abused by a male babysitter. Moody is the author of “Fighting through the Fear – My Journey of Healing from Childhood Sexual Abuse”. The book describes his harrowing personal journey as a childhood sexual abuse survivor.

Moody attributes Scouting to saving his life during his darkest times and what helped him become the leader and survivor that he is today. Now a local business leader, Moody is a strong advocate for Child Abuse Prevention.

Dave joined Scouting as a Cub in the mid-1960s. Over the last fifty-plus years, he followed older Scouts and leaders in his Troop until it was his turn to lead. He says the examples he had as a boy shaped the leader he has become as a man.
