Learning about local government from our State Legislators at Scout Day at the Capitol

Scout Day at the Capitol is an annual event hosted by the Atlanta Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. This year, while remaining mindful of health concerns, we are brought the Capitol directly to our Scouts – virtually.

In the days before virtual learning and virtual events were commonplace over 100 Scouts from around Metro-Atlanta would gather together for this special Scout Day. They would tour the Georgia State Capitol, meet with Georgia State Representatives and Senators, sit in the House and Senate galleries and be acknowledged by their local government.

This year our Scouts booted up their computers and tablets to tune in to a virtual Q&A to learn more from their state legislators. Scouts submitted questions prior to the event and our elected officials spent time reviewing and answering them in a half-hour segment.

Please note photographs used from previous years.

While Scouts were watching the Q&A from their state legislators, our State Representatives and State Senators were hard at work and currently in session working to debate bills, vote on them and pass laws. Representative Pedro Marin, Representative Josh Bonner, Representative Beth Moore and Representative Dar’Shun Kendrick stood proudly at the morning order to pay tribute to the Scouting movement.

Thank you to all of our State Representatives and Senators for their participation and continued passion and dedicating to Scouting.
