Not every boy who wants to be a Scout has the opportunity to join a Troop or get involved through traditional methods. The Scoutreach program is designed to bridge the gap between Scouting and youth who might otherwise be excluded. Scoutreach provides equipment, uniforms and trained leaders to new units in neighborhoods where Scouting and youth, in general, face obstacles.
Program Specialist LizMarie Rivera is one of the trained leaders who works with youth through the Scoutreach program. Scouting, LizMarie says, is a key provider of peer and adult leadership in the youth of our city. “It provides foundations…” of leadership and trustworthiness for youth.
