Fontaine Kohler and the other parents at Troop 370 have created one of the most unique programs in our council. They partnered with The Uganda Scouts Association to create an exchange program, where American Boy Scouts and Ugandan Scouts support one another and travel to visit each other.
Troop 370 and their charter organization, the St. James United Methodist Church, support the Ugandan Scouts and the school that charters their Troop. They also send groups of American Boy Scouts over to visit the Ugandan Scouts on a regular basis. Ugandan Scouts have attended summer camp at Woodruff Scout Camp alongside members of Troop and Crew 370.
Fontaine says that although the Scouting program is slightly different in the two countries both American and Ugandan Scouts are united by their love of the outdoors and their outstanding character. Interacting with International Scouts, she says, has made her home Troop even stronger over time.
Fontaine Kohler is an adult leader in Troop and Crew 370 at St. James United Methodist Church in Brookhaven. She is also a co-founder of the Scouting Bridges Uganda Program.
