Scouts, Venturers and Explorers Enjoy a Braves Game at SunTrust Park

On Saturday April 14, 2018 over 1,000 Scouts, Venturers, Explorers and family members cheered on their Atlanta Braves in a home game at SunTrust Park against the New York Mets.

The annual spring Scout Day with the Braves brought together two of Atlanta’s favorite traditions: Scouting and Baseball.

Cherokee County Fire Explorers Post #469  and Boy Scout Troop 304 of Marietta, GA lead a pre-game parade and presented the colors during the opening ceremonies.

Sgt. Michael Sims, the Adviser for Post 469, said, “Our explorers joined Boy Scout Troop 304 in leading a parade around the field before the game. After the parade, the Cherokee County Fire Explorers had the honor of presenting our nation’s colors on the field in front of the players and thousands of fans.”

Cadet Firefighters from Post #469 carried the American Flag onto the field while Scouts from Troop 304 carried the Atlanta Area Council flag.

“Our Explorers enjoyed this honor of representing Scouts and Explorers from across the Atlanta area,” said Sims.

The Scouts, Venturers and Explorers cheered the Braves on to a 3-4 victory over the New York Mets and enjoyed an excellent evening at SunTrust Park.
