Watching the Moon Landing from Summer Camp

Before he became the Camp Director at Bert Adams Scout Camp, Tom Morin served on Camp Staff in the late 1960s. Mr. Morin spent his first year on staff in the Trading Post. He spent his days handing out candy and camping supplies, although Slushies weren’t around during his time in the store.

Tom Morin fondly remembers watching Neil Armstrong land on the moon from his Staff Tent at Summer Camp. In recent years, dozens of staffers have claimed to have been in the tent with him. Mr. Morin remembers the tent being packed with people. However, he’s not sure everyone was there for the historic broadcast.

Tom Morin is the Camp Director at Bert Adams Scout Camp and a leader with Troop 1776 in Marietta, GA.
